Weekly Lessons Following the Jesus Storybook Bible

description of lessons that follow jesus storybook bible

As we begin the church’s new year, I’m creating weekly lessons following the Jesus Storybook Bible. The lessons are digital downloads you can print at home and will be available from my new shop.

This begins the fulfillment of a dream I’ve had on my heart for almost 30 years. In my years as a volunteer children’s ministry leader and Sunday School teacher, I’ve written my own lessons and created crafts and coloring pages to enhance the learning process. This blog has been a place to share many of those crafts and printables. This new weekly lesson series covers the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and is especially designed for 4-7 year olds.

The activity packets for each lesson are written for preschoolers to early readers. Along with pages to help you and your child read and retell the story, you will find worksheets to practice the alphabet and learn math skills.

The initial lessons in December include the stories of the nativity, the shepherds and meeting Simeon and Anna, the Wise Men, and a final lesson to connect the stories.

In January, the lessons begin with the story of creation and follow the table of contents of the Jesus Storybook Bible.

Free resources for each lesson will be available and the full lesson activity packet can be purchased in the shop.

You can save time and money by subscribing the Storybook Bible Fun Club. Each month’s lessons will be delivered to your email inbox in plenty of time for you to plan weekly and daily Bible story time with your child.

Each weekly lesson packet includes enough activities for a whole week of Bible Fun.

I pray that these lessons will provide you some focused time with your child learning the truth about God’s love.

Palm Sunday and Easter Crafts

As we approach Holy Week each year, the thought that comes to mind is Jesus’ determination to fulfill his calling as he sets his face toward Jerusalem. Knowing what is to come, he grieves not for himself, but for God’s people.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

John 13:34

Then, what a difference a week makes. It starts with such joy and celebration among the common people and plotting among the leaders. How alone Jesus must have felt even in the midst of the cheers of Hosanna. He knew what was to come in the days ahead.

Palm Sunday and Easter Crafts

The children’s crafts I’ve made focus on the joy. The joy of the triumphant entry. The joy of the angel’s declaration, “He is not here. He is risen.” As adults, we know the somber days in between. And children can sense are mood even if they are not old enough for all the details.

The diorama template for the Empty Tomb craft is an idea from my card-making days. The best way to understand the folds is to look at the sample folding image in the printable. You can download the Empty Tomb printable here.

May we always celebrate the miracle of the Empty Tomb.

Advent Calendar to Color

With December starting on a Sunday this year, I decided to create a printable Advent calendar for you and your family to color. Each day’s image includes a Bible verse to read as you make your way through the month.

This video is filled with carols and hymns of the season. Enjoy them during your coloring time.
